Pakistan Faces Tough Year Navigating US-China Tensions and Regional Conflicts

Pakistan China regional conflicts

Pakistan’s gonna have a tough year, seems like. Foreign policy and security things are gonna be the main focus while the inside stuff looks okay-ish and people hope the economy gets better. The real problems are with its neighbors like Afghanistan and India, and also the big guys like the US, especially with Trump maybe coming back, and China, who are close friends. Plus, the Pakistan Taliban, the TTP, are getting more violent, attacking police and stuff connected to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, that’s a big worry.

Even China and Pakistan had some issues this year, after attacks on Chinese folks. Beijing actually spoke up about it, which is rare. China will still help out with money but who knows about more CPEC projects. China wanting their own security people in Pakistan is also a concern, might lead to more problems with attacks on Chinese people, and more political drama. Also, if Trump gets tough on China, Pakistan might have to choose a side, which makes it hard since they need to be good with Washington too.

US and Pakistan are also in a weird spot, with the US focusing on the Ukraine war and the Middle East. Pakistan is low on the US list right now but they have to be careful with ties to the US especially since things are tense with China and India. The Kashmir issue with India is still a big headache, no change on the horizon. Plus the fight with Iran after cross-border attacks is a mess that could make Baloch separatists get stronger.
