Justin Trudeau talked on MSNBC about some things Donald Trump had said about Canada maybe becoming part of the US. Trudeau basically said Trump was trying to change the subject because he was also talking about putting big taxes on things Canada sells to the US like 25 percent big. Trudeau said that would hurt regular folks in the US who buy those things.
Trudeau made it clear that Canada doesn’t want to become the 51st state and that it’s all a way to not talk about the tariffs. He said this idea of Canada joining the US is distracting from the real problem of what these taxes would do to people in the US. The problem is the increased costs for consumers in America.
Trudeau wants people to talk more about how these new taxes on things like steel and aluminum would actually affect them. He wants to change the conversation from the silly idea of Canada becoming a state to what the trade policies actually mean for regular folks who are buying things in the USA.
