dhanbad news dhanbad crime snatching police impersonation woman robbed

Criminals posing as police and stole jewellery from an elderly woman and escaped

At 1:00 PM on Friday, the incident happened close to Hatia More. The elderly woman was tricked and her jewellery was taken by the robbers who rode up on a bike and pretended to be police.

Shipra Sarkar, a Hirapur resident, was at Union Bank for work. She was heading back towards Park Market after finishing her work. Two young people arrived at Hatia More on bike during this period. Saying, “We are policemen,” Shipra pulled over. “Why do so many of you come out wearing so much jewellery? You should know that there are snatchers on bikes out in the open. Every day, a woman gets robbed. We have been watching while in civil dress.” Then stated to remove the jewellery and place it inside the bag.

The gold ring, gold chain, and earrings were then taken off and placed in a bag. After fooling by giving them another bag, they fled with the jewelry-containing bag. When she opened the bag out of suspicion, she found missing jewellery and paper inside. Shipra Sarkar quickly called her relatives to come to her.

The family members reported the incident to the police by dialling 100. The Dhanbad police arrived at the location after receiving the information. The police are looking through the nearby CCTV footage in response to the woman’s complaint.
