Jamshedpur Accident: Protest Ends After Assurance of Improved Medical Care for Victims

A recent protest in Jamshedpur, sparked by the JEMCO accident, has come to a temporary close after intervention from a local political figure. Amresh Kumar, who initiated a hunger strike, ended his protest following assurances from Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy that the issue is being addressed by local authorities.

MLA Roy’s Intervention

Roy informed Kumar that he has already discussed the JEMCO accident and its impact on local residents with the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner has subsequently assigned responsibility for handling the matter to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO). Roy intends to meet with the SDO soon to delve deeper into the details of the JEMCO accident and explore potential solutions for those affected.

Details of the JEMCO Accident

The incident that fueled the protest involved Krishna Sharma, 40, and his 19-year-old daughter, Anjali Sharma, residents of Barighora near Jemco Machhua Basti under the Telco police station’s jurisdiction. Both sustained serious injuries in the accident. They, along with other injured individuals, are now seeking adequate medical attention and support.

Roy also personally contacted the Superintendent of MGM (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital) to advocate for better medical care for Vicky Sharma, another individual injured in the JEMCO accident. Ensuring that Vicky Sharma receives the best possible treatment is a priority, according to Roy.

Looking Ahead

This intervention marks a significant step towards addressing the community’s concerns that have arisen in the wake of the accident. The focus is now on the upcoming meeting with the SDO, where Roy hopes to find a path toward resolution and provide much-needed support to those impacted by the JEMCO accident. Furthermore, discussions are planned to implement measures to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future and improve overall safety standards in the area.
