A disability assessment camp took place at the Chakulia Community Health Center in Jamshedpur on Thursday. Medical professionals evaluated 105 individuals with disabilities during the event.

Comprehensive Disability Assessments Conducted

The health department organized this health camp to deliver specialized medical care to individuals in rural communities. This initiative aimed to address the healthcare needs of people with disabilities who might face challenges accessing medical services. The camp ensured that a broad spectrum of disabilities were addressed through thorough examinations and consultations.

Specialist Doctors Provide Expert Care

Specialist doctors were present to conduct detailed examinations. The team included bone specialist Dr. Tapas Murmu, Dr. Rupai Pil, ENT specialist Dr. Priti Pandey, and psychiatrist Dr. Mahesh Hembram. Their presence ensured that attendees received expert assessments tailored to their specific needs.

During the camp, fifty-one people were examined for bone-related issues. Additionally, twenty-seven were evaluated for ENT (ear, nose, and throat) ailments. Thirteen individuals received consultations for mental health concerns, and fourteen were examined for eye-related problems. The diverse range of specialists ensured comprehensive care for various disabilities. Perhaps future initiatives can build on this model to serve even more people.

Importance of Accessible Healthcare

Dr. Ranjit Murmu, the medical officer in charge of the Community Health Center, emphasized the camp’s importance. “This camp is essential for providing specialized medical care to people with disabilities in rural areas,” he stated. He further explained the event demonstrates a commitment to offering crucial healthcare services to all, irrespective of their geographical location. Satish Kumar Verma, BPM, also attended the health camp, contributing to its smooth operation.

This initiative underscores the ongoing efforts of the health department to reach underserved populations and deliver essential medical services. By bringing specialist doctors directly to the community, the health department aims to reduce barriers to healthcare access. This proactive approach is essential for improving the overall quality of life for individuals living with disabilities.
