When the bus carrying the wedding party struck a truck from behind late on Friday night near Karanjia in Mayurbhanj, at least 10 people were hurt, two of them seriously.
Around 40 baraatis were reportedly being taken by the marriage celebration bus from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, to Jajpur. On National Highway 220, close to Tata, the bus rear-ended a stationary truck while traveling.The injured were taken to the Karanjia hospital for treatment right away after the accident.
Police have seized the vehicles and started an investigation, even though the exact reason of the accident is still unknown.
In another incident, early on Saturday morning, a Bolero struck a stationary truck from behind at Dahisara Chhak, close to Balasore’s Soro, injuring seven people. According to reports, the incident occurred as the Bolero was travelling from Cuttack to Balasore. After the injured people’s condition got worse, they were transferred from Soro hospital to Balasore DHH.
The previous day at Gada Khordha Square on National Highway 16 in Khordha, a truck struck the tourists’ bus from the back, resulting in up to 20 injuries. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday. 45 tourists from Gudari in the Rayagada district were reportedly on the bus headed to Puri, where they were being escorted by the Odisha government to visit the recently inaugurated Srimandir Parikrama Project.
The district administration has prepared refreshments for the Parikrama Project guests at the Goshala field near Khordha, which is accessible via the NH-16. This is according to reports that the bus arrived there this morning. That being said, a hyva truck struck the bus from the back as the passengers were getting off.
