JAMSHEDPUR: Due to a lack of instructors, Jamshedpur Co-operative College, currently a part of Kolhan University, has not admitted new students in four subjects for the previous four years.
Mathematics, geology, Bengali, and Odia are the four disciplines. There has always been a teacher shortage in Kolhan University’s colleges. “We have notified the university multiple times, but nothing was done,” stated Amar Singh, the Jamshedpur Co-operative College principal.
Two teaching assistants are employed on an as-needed basis by the postgraduate mathematics department at Kolhan University, which has one head.
Postgraduate mathematics is only offered by Graduate School College for Women, a constituent college in Jamshedpur, and Karim City College, another Kolhan University affiliate.
Students who want to major in maths are choosing more expensive private universities due to a shortage of subject lecturers.”Anubhav Kumar, an economics honours student at Jamshedpur Co-operative College, stated that although constituent colleges are less expensive, many students are compelled to attend private universities because institutions like Jamshedpur Co-operative College do not offer courses in major subjects.”
Rajendra Bharti, the registrar of Kolhan University, stated that they are hiring instructors on a contract basis in an effort to close the gap. He said that a request for the same has already been filed to Raj Bhavan.
