The management of the corporation has closed a public route that has been utilised by thousands of people for a very long time without giving the public notice or getting authorization from the administration.

JAMSHEDPUR: According to people familiar with the situation, on Sunday, a case was filed under section 133 of the CrPC Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TSUISL) in the court of the Dhalbhumgarh sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) for obstructing a 100-year-old public road next to an apartment block assigned to state health minister Banna Gupta.

“We filed a case on Saturday under section 133 of the CrPC against the TSUISL managing director (MD) Rituraj Sinha and TSUISL general manager (GM) Captain Dhananjay Mishra in the SDJM court for blocking a century-old public road without informing and obtaining prior permission from the district administra- tion, causing problems for lakhs of people,” Devendra Singh, a lawyer and a BJP leader, told media on Sunday.

According to Singh, his case has been given consideration by the SDJM court.

Without notifying the public or obtaining authorization from the administration, the corporate management closed a public road that was utilised by lakhs of people have long been subject to political influence and coercion,” Singh stated. Even though the corporation is not allowed to give land under schedule 5 of the Tata Lease agreement to anybody, he said, the company just gave a block of apartments to the state health minister, Gupta.

The relevant machinery committee (AMC) of the state government must first approve the temporary sublease of such property, apartments, or quarters to firm employees on the Tata Rent. As I have shown in my case, TSUISL has breached the law by blocking a public road, which is against the law, in order to benefit the minister,” stated Singh.

In regards to the matter, HT was unable to get a response from the TSUISL.

Sanjiv Acharya, the state central general secretary of the BJP, organised a public protest against the road’s closure and called for its reopening earlier on January 24 at the DC office.

According to those familiar with the situation, there was a fight between BJP employees and the minister’s supporters after which both sides filed complaints at Kadma police station (PS) the following day.

Citing security concerns, TSUISL closed the road in front of the apartments assigned to Health Minister Gupta, creating issues for nearby residents and commuters.

About 100,000 people were impacted by the walling and obstruction of the road, which connected Marine Drive, ECC apartments, Ramja-nam Nagar, Gwala Basti, Shas-tri Nagar, and other localities with Kadma.
Resentful people have also started a social media movement against the relocation.
