In a tweet released by Jharkhand police guidelines are given to common citizen to prevent any misinformation from spreading on social media.
What is written in the information note?
Jamshedpur Police appeals to all the people of Jamshedpur that:-
• Do not share misleading information/photos/videos and objectionable comments that hurt any community/particular person/religion on social media sites and also do not pay attention to any kind of factless rumour.
• Immediately inform the nearest police station or composite control room about those posting inflammatory messages and videos on 24X7 mobile/Whatsapp number 7091091825 / 9508280796, so that necessary action can be taken against anti-social elements.
• Spreading rumors by posting on social media related to disturbing communal harmony is a punishable offence. Legal action will be taken by registering a case under relevant sections against the persons spreading such rumours.
• Jamshedpur Police expects your cooperation to maintain peace/law and order in the society.
• The identity of the person giving information will be kept secret
