The “Garden of the Year 2024” competition was held by the Horticulture Society of Jamshedpur on January 6 and 7. The winners were announced on Sunday, February 4 at a ceremony held at the Beldih Club.
84 participants were judged in 12 categories by an esteemed panel of four West Bengal jury members, Jayanta Ghoshal, Atanu Kar, Debasish Bal, and Debasish Mondal, with assistance from five members of the Horticultural Society of Jamshedpur, namely Dr. Dhananjay Choubey, Chandan Dalai, Ashwani Kumar Srivastava, Kamal Kishore, and Alok Kumar Choudhary. It should be noted that this year there were two new categories added: Balcony with up to 50 pots and more than 50 pots.
Ravi Ranjan, IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator for Forests, Jharkhand Government, was the main guest of honour on this particular occasion.
Sunday at the Beldih Club was the award ceremony for the several category contests that had been held earlier on January 6 and 7. The winners across a range of categories consist of: The 33rd Annual Flower Show’s Campus Mobile Photography Contest is scheduled for 2023.
First place went to Jyoti Sagar, a KGBV (Pokka) teacher; second place went to Kalyan Deep, a student at Carmel Junior College (class 5); third place went to Sandhya Ramna; individual flat or terrace (up to 100 square feet): Champion: Nishant, Sanjay Chowdhury, and Geeta Shukla;
Individual House (up to 250 square feet): Champion: Killol Kamani, Runner-Up: Renuka Gupta, Third Place: Nakul Kamani Md. Sk Gulam Sabbir, Dr. Devesh Bahadur, and Sukhneet Kaur Sandhu were the champions; Individual House (less than 500 square feet): Sajjan Kumar Naredi won, followed by Uday Pratap Singh in second place and Rupa Mohanty in third; Individual House (more than 501 square feet) The winners are Manju Bhamra, Braj Raj, and Chitra Sharma. Garden on the Balcony (Up to 50 Pots) Second Place: Ashwani Kumar Srivastava; More Than 50 Pots Balcony Garden: Champion: Nitil Prasai @ Rekha Samuel; Second Place: Neetu Goswami; Third Place: Md. Abdul Hasseb; Company Maintained Bungalow: ( Up to 1000 Sq. Mt. ) D. B.
