Dumaria: RTI activist and BJP leader Sirma Devgam has written a letter to the Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department, Jharkhand government, demanding a stop to illegal mining.
In the letter, Sirma Devgam states that some people have been illegally quarrying stones in the Sohda forest under the Gudabanda block for the past five years. He alleges that the illegal mining is being carried out under the protection of the forest department, mining department, and police. Trees are also being cut down for quarrying stones.
The quarrying is not only damaging the environment but also causing a loss of revenue to the government. The matter has been brought to the attention of the forest and mining departments, but they have remained silent on the issue.
