Jamshedpur: The city observed Tusu Parab and Makar Sankranti with tremendous zeal and devotion on Monday.
Tusu fair was held at Domuhani in Sonari by the socio-cultural Jharkhand Sanskritik Kala Kendra, which continues the age-old practice. People gathered in particular to compete for the idol of Tusu, the goddess of harvest and fertility.
Jharkhand’s harvest season, known as the Tusu festival, was enjoyed by both the general public and notable figures, such as health minister Banna Gupta, who attended the festivities in his home seat. One of the largest and most well-liked Tusu fairs in the city is Tusu Mela at Domuhani in Sonari, where the rivers Kharkai and Subernarekha converge.
