One Jawan Martyred, Another Injured in Encounter with Naxals

According to reports, the police had launched an anti-Naxal operation based on a tip-off. The Naxals, who were hiding in the forest, ambushed the police team and opened fire. In the ensuing gunbattle, one jawan, identified as Sikandar Singh, was killed and another, identified as Sikan, was injured.

The injured jawan was rushed to Sadar Hospital, but due to his critical condition, he was referred to Ranchi for further treatment. It is also reported that one Naxalite was also injured in the encounter. The police have launched a search operation in the area to nab the Naxalites.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chatra, Akhilesh Kumar, has confirmed the incident. He said that the police will continue to take strong action against the Naxals.
