Jharkhand Displacement Crisis: MP Demands Action on Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation Rights

Jharkhand Displacement Crisis MP Demands Action on

Jamshedpur Member of Parliament, Vidyut Baran Mahato, recently spoke about the challenges of displacement and rehabilitation in Jharkhand during a session of parliament. Using a special rule, Mahato brought attention to the difficulties faced by families who have lost their homes and land due to industrial projects across the state. He emphasized that the central government needs to take action to protect the rights of those who have been displaced. Specifically, he mentioned areas like Chandil, highlighting that these problems are not isolated.

Jharkhand’s abundant mineral resources and industrial growth have made it an important economic center. However, this progress has also led to many families losing their homes and jobs because of land being acquired for development. As a result, many displaced families are struggling to secure proper rehabilitation and their basic rights are not being met. Mahato stated, “I want to draw attention to the issue of the rehabilitation of families affected by land acquisition in the industrial areas of Jharkhand and the protection of their rights.” This shows how seriously he is taking the problem.

The MP called on the central government to respond quickly and address these important issues. These problems are not limited to one particular location; they are occurring throughout the whole state. Mahato pointed out the situation in Chandil to illustrate the widespread impact of displacement in Jharkhand. By bringing these concerns to the national level, Mahato hopes to find solutions that will benefit the communities that have been affected by land acquisition. Ultimately, he seeks improvements in the state’s policies regarding rehabilitation.
