Ranchi’s local government is working to fix broken hand pumps this summer by introducing two helpline numbers. These phone lines will help address water shortage issues in the area as quickly as possible. Residents can call 7870090130 or 6205199525 to report problems with hand pumps in their neighborhoods. This will help ensure repairs are done fast.
Hand Pump Problems Across Jharkhand
Many hand pumps in Jharkhand are currently not working. Out of 181,823 hand pumps total, only 141,339 are working correctly. Bokaro has the most broken hand pumps, with 4,449 reported as not working. Giridih and Dumka also have many problems, with 3,371 and over a thousand broken hand pumps, respectively. Across 15 districts in Jharkhand, there are a total of 40,376 broken hand pumps.
Why This Matters
Having working hand pumps is important for people to get clean drinking water, especially during the hot summer. When hand pumps break down, it can be hard for families to get the water they need. This can lead to health problems and other difficulties. Therefore, addressing the issue of non-functional hand pumps is a priority for the local government. To further ensure the safety of drinking water, residents can also learn about ways to test their water quality at home.
Government Action
The launch of these helpline numbers shows the Deputy Commissioner’s dedication to solving water problems efficiently. By giving people a direct way to report issues, the government wants to quickly fix broken hand pumps. This will help make sure communities have access to clean water. This initiative is especially important during the summer, when water is most needed. Furthermore, this action is aimed at improving access to this essential resource.
How the Helpline Works
The helpline numbers are a simple way for people to report broken hand pumps. When someone calls, their report is taken and given to the team responsible for repairs. The team will then go to the location and fix the hand pump as soon as possible. This process helps make sure that hand pumps are fixed quickly and efficiently. As a result, communities can get back to having access to clean water.
