Jharkhand Man Jailed After Illegal Gambling Fuelle

In Potka, police have arrested a man named Abhay Pado Bhagat for running an illegal gambling operation called “Habba-Dabba.” This arrest came after a violent incident during a cockfight in Matkamdih, which is located in the Kalikapur area of Potka. The illegal game, played alongside the cockfight, resulted in a clash that injured three people on Sunday.

Following the violent outbreak, the Potka Police acted quickly and apprehended Bhagat. He was allegedly in charge of the illegal gambling during the event. According to the police report, the situation turned violent very fast due to the “Habba-Dabba” game being played at the cockfight. This led to physical fights and people getting hurt.

Furthermore, one of the injured, Ganesh Tudu, filed an official complaint with the Potka Police Station. He described the events and identified Bhagat as the one operating the illegal gambling. As a result, the police arrested and jailed Bhagat. Now, authorities are examining the bigger problem of illegal gambling in rural areas. They are looking for ways to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

The arrest of Abhay Pado Bhagat is important because it shows how illegal gambling can be connected to traditional events like cockfights. Police explained, “The victim filed a complaint detailing the illegal Habba-Dabba game run by Abhay Pado Bhagat,” demonstrating the seriousness of the case. While cockfights are a cultural activity in some places, adding illegal gambling can lead to conflict and violence. The police hope this arrest serves as a warning to others who might be doing similar illegal activities. It also sends a clear message that they are determined to maintain order and enforce the law.
