Jharkhand Minister Orders Action Against Circle Officers Rejecting Farmer Land Applications

Jharkhand Minister Orders Action Against Circle Of

Land Revenue Minister Deepak Birua has announced new measures to protect farmers’ rights in Jharkhand. These measures aim to stop unjustified rejections of land applications and ensure transparency in land-related processes.

Accountability for Circle Officers

Minister Birua has directed that action will be taken against Circle Officers (COs) who reject farmers’ (Raiyats) applications for land requests based on technical reasons. This order addresses concerns about unjustified rejections at the local circle office level. The goal is to ensure fairness and accountability in all land-related processes, ultimately benefiting landowners in the region.

Clear Explanations Required

Circle Officers must now provide clear and concise explanations, limited to 50 words, for any rejections or objections in mutation cases (Dakhil Kharij). This change promotes transparency and prevents the misuse of technicalities to deny valid land requests. This decision followed a recent review meeting of the Department of Land Revenue and Land Reforms. Land mutation is an important process that requires a level of clarity and understandability, particularly for farmers. Consider learning more about land records and mutation processes.

Birua emphasized that some officers were using the excuse of the Jharbhoomi site not functioning as a reason to delay or reject applications. He stressed the importance of resolving these technical issues quickly to allow for smoother land transactions. “The reasons for rejection should be solid and clearly stated,” said Birua, highlighting the need for transparency and justification in handling land applications.

Improving Land Administration

These new measures are part of a larger effort to make land administration more efficient and reduce complaints related to land records and approvals. By holding officials responsible for their decisions and ensuring clear communication, the department hopes to build trust in the land administration system. Ultimately, this will protect the rights of landowners and improve the land revenue processes in the region.
