Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren today held a high-level meeting related to law and order and crime control in the state at the Chief Minister’s residential office on Kanke Road, Ranchi. In the meeting, detailed information about law and order and crime control in the state was presented to the Chief Minister by the officers through Power Point Presentation (PPT).

Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren told the officials that crime-free Jharkhand is the priority of the state government. In the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren was informed by the officials that recently an incident of vandalism had been carried out in the JSSC building by anti-social elements under Namkum police station, on which FIR has been registered by the police administration and investigation is also going on.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to constitute a SIT in this regard. The Chief Minister said that a SIT should be constituted and the culprits should be arrested as soon as possible by instigating the case. The Chief Minister said that to ensure that such incidents do not recur, strict action should be taken against the criminals who committed the incidents. In the meeting, information about the incident that took place in Jharia, Dhanbad by police officers was also presented to the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to register an FIR and immediately investigate the incident that took place in Jharia. Police officials informed the Chief Minister that the police administration is keeping a close watch on this incident. Many arrests have also been made. Research is ongoing.

Regarding atrocities against women, the Chief Minister was informed by the officials that due to efforts in maintaining law and order in the state, communal and sensitive incidents have reduced. Due to the action taken by Jharkhand Police, the cases of crime like dowry harassment, theft, POCSO and murder have also reduced. The officials said before the Chief Minister that in the year 2019, 7650 cases were registered in various cases of atrocities against women. Whereas 7464 cases have been registered in the year 2020, 7279 in the year 2021, 6963 in the year 2022 and 6132 cases have been registered since the year 2023. There has been a continuous decline in the cases of atrocities against women in the last 4 years. Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren directed the officials to ensure prompt investigation of dowry death cases. The investigation should be completed in time so that strict action can be taken against the culprits.

Pay special attention to crime control in Ranchi, Dumka, Dhanbad, Giridih, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh.

Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren, while reviewing the cases related to murder crime, directed the officials that there has definitely been a decline in the murder cases but their immediate investigation is necessary. The Chief Minister directed the officials that there is a need to keep special vigil in Ranchi. The Chief Minister directed the officials to pay special attention to crime control in Ranchi, Dumka, Dhanbad, Giridih, Jamshedpur and Hazaribagh, because if any crime occurs in such places, it has a negative impact on the entire state.

POCSO Act is a heinous crime, work should be done on its control

In the meeting, the Chief Minister took information related to the POCSO Act from the officials. The officials informed the Chief Minister that there has been a continuous decline in POCSO cases. 1012 cases have been registered in the year 2019, 1236 in the year 2020, 1181 in the year 2021, 1180 in the year 2022 and 973 POCSO Act cases have been registered since the year 2023. Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren said that POCSO is a very heinous crime. Ensure that no negligence is done in the investigation of cases registered under POCSO.

Ensure strict action against those who promote crime while in jail

In the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren said that such reports are also being received that some gangs of people of criminal nature from within the jail are carrying out criminal incidents in different areas of the state, identify such people and take strict action against them. . The Chief Minister directed the officials that posting of SP and DSP in ATS should be done soon.

Buy all the resources helpful in crime control immediately

Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren directed the officials to immediately purchase all the resources helpful in crime control. Officials informed the Chief Minister that correspondence has been made with the Home Department for administrative approval and budget availability for the purchase of wireless equipment for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The Chief Minister directed the officials to immediately hold a meeting with the Chief Secretary and DGP with the DCs and SPs of all the districts regarding crime control.

State Chief Secretary Mr. L. Khyangte, DGP Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Operations) Mr. Sanjay A. Lathkar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Vinay Kumar Choubey and others were present in the meeting.
