On January 22, the ED sent Soren a new summons, requesting that he be available for questioning in the case from January 27 to January 31.
ED summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister, Hemant Soren on 20 January
The Enforcement Directorate arrived in Ranchi earlier on January 20 in order to question the Chief Minister of Jharkhand regarding the land scam. At his official residence, the state chief minister was questioned for seven hours. Soren informed the federal agency earlier this month that his statement in the land scam case could be recorded on January 20 at his official residence.
On January 13, the ED sent Soren his eighth summons, requesting that he participate in the investigation from January 16 to January 20. On January 16, the Enforcement Department (ED) had summoned Abhishek Prasad, the press advisor to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, to participate in their investigation into a purported money laundering case related to an illicit mining case.
What is Hemant Soren’s Reponse?
In response to the ninth summons issued in the alleged land scam case, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren wrote a letter to the Enforcement Directorate. Soren reportedly wrote that he is booked through March and won’t be available for questioning. Notably, Soren was invited to appear before ED on any day between January 27 and January 31.
