Jharkhand News: Jharkhand Political Turmoil: Rahul Gandhi Meets Kalpana Soren After Hemant Soren’s Trust Vote Victory

Ranchi: The political upheaval in Jharkhand came to a halt on Monday. After Hemant Soren’s younger brother Champai Soren proved his majority in the Jharkhand Assembly, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren at their residence.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh shared a picture of the meeting on his Twitter handle. He wrote, “Just minutes before the public meeting at the historic Shahid Maidan in HEC campus, Ranchi, and minutes after the JMM-Congress-RJD-CPI(ML) alliance trounced BJP and its allies on the floor of the Assembly, Rahul Gandhi met Kalpana Soren, wife of Hemant Soren at his residence.”

Champai Soren’s government wins trust vote

Earlier today, the Champai Soren government presented a trust vote in the Assembly. 47 MLAs from the JMM alliance stood in favor, while only 29 votes were cast in opposition. Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato asked the members present in the House to stand one by one in favor and against the motion.

Hemant Soren attends floor test

Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a land scam, also reached the Assembly to participate in the floor test. A special court had granted Hemant Soren permission to participate in the trust vote.

Hemant Soren targets BJP

Speaking on the occasion, Hemant Soren said that his arrest is an example of the atrocities being committed on tribals and Dalits in the society. He said, “If you look back, the oppression of tribals, backward classes, Dalits and minorities has been brought out in many ways in different forms. January 31 is an example of this oppression.”

Targeting the BJP, the former CM said, “I don’t understand why the Center has so much hatred towards tribals and Dalits. They do not hesitate to say that we should live in the forests. If we come out of the forest, their graves will become dirty. They think we are untouchables.”

Champai Soren: Center is misusing central agencies

Chief Minister Champai Soren, while initiating the debate on the trust motion, said that the Center is misusing central agencies. The CM, supporting Hemant Soren, said, “The party that is ruling the central government has misused the agencies. Hemant Soren got the mandate in 2019. Such a Chief Minister has been arrested in a land scam case.”

The political situation in Jharkhand remains tense as the BJP is likely to challenge the trust vote in the court.
