A devastating road accident near Ranchi, Jharkhand, took the lives of two students from the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) on Wednesday morning. The accident happened close to Maltoti Bridge, in the Mandar police station area. A speeding truck collided with their scooter, causing the tragic loss.

The students were identified as Diwesh Mandal, a PhD student studying Geoinformatics, and Aishwarya, a Geoinformatics student originally from Hooghly. Witnesses at the scene said the truck was moving very fast when it struck the scooter. Sadly, both students suffered injuries that led to their deaths.

Following the accident, local residents and students expressed their anger and frustration. As a result, they blocked the road in protest. Local police confirmed that a speeding truck hit the students as they were traveling. Authorities are now investigating the details of the accident, with a focus on the truck driver’s actions and whether negligence played a role.

The bodies of the students have been taken for post-mortem examinations. Meanwhile, authorities are working to manage the traffic delays caused by the ongoing protest. This unfortunate incident underscores the serious concerns about road safety in the region.
