Residents of Kantabani village in Chakulia are struggling with a serious shortage of drinking water. Recently, a group of women from the village visited the office of their local representative, MLA Sameer Mohanty, to ask for assistance. They presented a formal request outlining the urgent need for accessible water.
The primary cause of the water crisis is the failure of the village’s existing water sources. Consequently, villagers are forced to travel considerable distances to obtain water. This lack of nearby water puts a strain on their daily lives.
The women explained in their request that around 20 families reside in their section of Kantabani village. These families depend on a single hand pump and a solar-powered well for their water supply. Unfortunately, both of these sources have been out of service for several months. As a result, the women must walk two kilometers to fetch water for drinking and household tasks.
They are now urging MLA Sameer Mohanty to take immediate action and repair the broken hand pump and solar-powered well. The women believe that fixing these vital water sources will alleviate the water crisis in Kantabani village. In fact, access to clean water is crucial for their well-being.
MLA Mohanty assured the women that he would investigate the matter and work towards a quick solution. The residents of Kantabani village are hopeful that their plea will be heard and that they will soon have reliable access to clean drinking water. This would significantly improve their living conditions.
