Jharkhand Villagers Block Highway Over Unbearable Dust Pollution

Villagers in Kamalain Bagicha, Rajmahal, took a stand against excessive dust by blocking the Rajmahal-Sahibganj main National Highway on Saturday. Frustrated residents, both men and women, used bamboo poles to create a road blockade in the Rajmahal police station area.

Why the Road Blockade?

The villagers claim that the construction company working on the road isn’t doing enough to control dust. They say the company isn’t spraying water on the road regularly. As a result, there’s too much dust in the air, which is making life difficult and causing health problems. This dust pollution is making it hard to breathe and affecting their daily routines.

“We are facing a lot of problems,” explained one villager participating in the protest. The dust has become so bad that they felt they had to do something drastic to get attention and make their voices heard. They want the construction company and local officials to take immediate action and fix the dust problem.

Demands for a Cleaner Environment

The primary concern of the villagers is the significant dust pollution impacting their health and daily lives. The lack of proper dust control measures by the construction company has forced them to take direct action. They want the company to start watering the road regularly to reduce the amount of dust in the air. Perhaps, reviewing local environmental regulations would also help.

The road blockade caused traffic delays for several hours, inconveniencing many travelers. However, the villagers stayed put until their demands were addressed. This situation highlights how important it is for construction projects to be environmentally responsible and to listen to the concerns of the local community.
