Hundreds of residents protested outside the Potka headquarters on Tuesday, claiming they haven’t received their government-provided food rations for five months. The protesters, all cardholders in the public distribution system (PDS), marched to the building to express their frustration. They blocked the main gate for four hours, demanding immediate action to resolve the issue.
The demonstrators came from several villages within the Rasunchopa Panchayat, including Buruhatu and Lowadih. They say the local PDS shopkeeper hasn’t provided them with essential food items for almost half a year. This has created significant challenges for families who depend on these subsidized goods.
The public distribution system is designed to provide food security for vulnerable communities. However, the lack of these necessary supplies can lead to hunger and poor nutrition. Residents are now asking authorities to investigate the situation and ensure they receive the rations they are owed.
The protest highlights how important a reliable PDS is for those who need it most. Villagers are seeking a guarantee that this problem will be fixed quickly. Authorities are expected to look into the matter, correct the problem, and prevent similar issues from happening again. The main goal is to restore the food supply to those affected and hold accountable anyone responsible for the disruption.
