Latehar police have successfully captured Rajesh Singh Kherwar, also known as Tula Singh, the head of the outlawed Naxalite group, Sangharsh Jan Mukti Morcha. According to Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav, Kherwar is accused of demanding money from Vikas Tiwari, who is working on a railway project. The incident took place on January 27th. Kherwar allegedly made a video call to the contractor using WhatsApp. During this call, he displayed weapons and demanded payment, which is a form of extortion commonly known as “levy”. Following this, the contractor filed a complaint with the local police.
The police investigation led to the capture of Kherwar, who is now facing serious charges. “The accused demanded levy from the contractor and also threatened to kill him,” SP Kumar Gaurav stated.
