A revolutionary wave of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) conferences changed Jharkhand’s landscape under the visionary Sampurna Project. These conferences were strategically held across five vibrant districts: Palamu, Chatra, Giridih, East Singhbhum, and Dumka. These conferences, which were led by the Jharkhand government’s Harsh Johar Project, told their powerful story between December 15, 2023, and February 6, 2024.
The spirit of these conferences resonated with parents, young people, PRI members, media professionals, and district officials among other segments of society. More than 825 people actively participated in the enlightening Samagam program, demonstrating that the engagement went beyond simple participation. Fundamentally, the event raised awareness among participants and deepened their comprehension of social-emotional learning (SEL) concepts. It also encouraged thoughtful conversation.
Project Sampoorna, the Jharkhand government’s vision of comprehensive child development strategies, is at the center of this revolutionary endeavor. Focused on improving adolescents’ critical social-emotional learning (SEL), the project aims to strengthen the educational ecosystem, foster a symbiotic relationship with the parent community, and improve the capacities of teachers and school leadership.
The Harsh Johar Project is essential to the program’s effectiveness because it was painstakingly created to accommodate students from class I to class XII. This curriculum, which was jointly developed by JEPC and the Sampoorna Consortium, represents a sophisticated comprehension of the socio-cultural makeup of the state. It acts as a beacon, directing educational methods in the direction of social progress and holistic development.
