Ranchi Bus Shelter, Decades Old, Poses Collapse Risk Due to Disrepair

Ranchi Bus Shelter Decades Old Poses Collapse Risk

A rundown bus shelter in Ranchi, situated in front of the Municipal Corporation office, presents a safety hazard to the public. The shelter, which has been around since before Jharkhand was created, is falling apart. The cement is crumbling, and metal rods are sticking out, showing how badly damaged it is. Even though it is in such poor condition, the shelter still has large advertising banners attached to it. This lack of upkeep has people worried about potential accidents and injuries.

The shelter, held up by only two pillars, is located in a busy area near Kachahari Chowk and the Traffic Control Police office. Locals have been watching the shelter worsen over time and fear it might collapse. “The shelter is very old, and it is falling apart,” one resident said, voicing their concern. Furthermore, the advertising banners make the situation even more dangerous, posing a threat to people walking by and those waiting for buses.

This deteriorating bus shelter emphasizes the need for regular maintenance of public structures. While the city has worked to improve traffic flow in areas like Purulia Road and Main Road, this safety issue near Kachahari Chowk requires immediate action. If the city authorities don’t address the issue soon, the shelter’s poor condition could lead to a serious accident. Ignoring such basic needs can have severe consequences for the people of Ranchi.
