Employees of the Ashok Hotel in Doranda, Ranchi, held a protest on Monday in front of the hotel’s main entrance. The workers are protesting because they have not received their wages for the past two and a half years. They are also asking for job adjustments. This demonstration brings attention to the financial difficulties faced by workers in the hospitality field.
Unpaid Wages Spark Employee Protest
The employees claim that the hotel management has not properly dealt with their concerns. Several kitchen staff members, including Surendra Sharma and Jitu Singh, stated that the hotel used to employ 32 people. Today, only six employees are still working there.
The employees further explained that two of the six remaining employees are scheduled to retire in February and June. The other 26 employees have taken VR (Voluntary Retirement). Because of this situation, those who remain feel their concerns are not being heard.
Desperate Measures for Resolution
“Employees have not been paid for the last two and a half years,” said Surendra Sharma, who works in the kitchen department. The protest was a last-ditch effort to get the hotel management’s attention and encourage them to solve the problem. The workers are hoping that their voices will be heard.
The employees are seeking fair treatment and the wages they have earned. The future for these employees is unclear as they continue to fight for their rights and what they are owed. You might also be interested in reading about other labor disputes in the region.
