Ranchi Infiltration Case: Bangladeshi Woman Seeks Bail, Court Sets February 14 Hearing

Ranchi Infiltration Case Bangladeshi Woman Seeks B

Roni Mondal, a woman originally from Bangladesh, has requested bail from a special court in Ranchi. Mondal was arrested in connection to a case involving illegal Bangladeshi immigration. The special court, which handles cases related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), listened to her request on Wednesday.

During the hearing, the court instructed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to respond to Mondal’s bail petition. The Enforcement Directorate is a government agency that investigates financial crimes. The court has scheduled the next hearing for February 14.

Previously, the ED filed a formal complaint against four people, including Roni Mondal. The other individuals named in the complaint are Samir Chaudhary, Pintu Haldar, and Pinki Basu. The court has acknowledged this complaint and is considering the evidence presented against them.

Mondal’s legal team argued that she has been falsely accused and poses no risk of fleeing. They also stated that she has been cooperating with the investigation and that there is no proof linking her to money laundering. On the other hand, the ED is against granting bail to Mondal. The agency claims she is a central figure in the illegal immigration network.

The ED also presented evidence suggesting that Mondal has been involved in money laundering. An ED official stated that they submitted all necessary evidence to the court, highlighting the seriousness of the charges. Because of these factors, the ED believes she might run away if released on bail. The case centers on illegal immigration and financial crimes.

The court has decided to hold off on making a decision about bail for now. The court will revisit the matter on February 14. The outcome of this case could significantly impact the investigation into illegal immigration from Bangladesh and related money laundering activities in the area.
