The issue of congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the construction of the Ram Temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi caused a rift within the Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly on Monday.
Suresh Kumar Khanna, BJP MLA from Shahjahanpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh had made a proposal on behalf of the Assembly to pass a congratulatory message to PM Modi and CM Yogi for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
He said that this is the biggest event of this century due to which our pride has returned after years. This temple will not only strengthen socio-cultural nationalism but will also give a huge boost to the tourism sector.
14 Samajwadi Party’s MLA protested against the decision
Fourteen MLAs, among them SP MLAs Lalji Verma, Swami Omvesh, and Manoj Paras, raised their hands in opposition to the motion of congratulations. The congratulatory motion was approved with the support of the entire House, with the exception of these 14 members, according to UP Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana. As part of a well-thought-out plan in the House, there is talk in political circles that the BJP has split the SP into two factions with this issue.
