150 year old Shiva temple in Varanasi Madanpura area closed for 40 years got opened again Wednesday cause the doors were jammed and had to be cut. Temple had like two feet of soil inside and when cleaned they found three broken Shivalingas. After cleaning women from the Bengali community washed the Shivalingas and the temple with Ganges water. They gonna do a re-consecration ceremony for Mahadev after January 14th and then regular worship will start.
Muslim people in the area said they cool with the temple reopening they just want peace. At first they found four Shivalingas but one was gone and three were broken. After the cleaning Hindu groups used Ganges water and did prayers. Administration secured the temple and gave the keys to a Hindu group. Since its Kharmaas right now formal worship will start after January 14th after talking to scholars.
They getting ready for the re-consecration by talking to religious scholars and will put the broken Shivalingas in the Ganges with respect. The temple area is being watched with CCTV and drones now to keep everyone safe and peaceful. Local people including Muslim folks they all said they just want to keep the peace and get along.
