Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), stated on Sunday that the Citizenship Amendment Act is based solely on religion and is wrong, going against the fundamental principles of India, following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s announcement that the law will be put into effect prior to the Lok Sabha elections.
“This law is incorrect. It is founded solely on religion and goes against the spirit of India. CAA is not visible by itself. It must be viewed via NPR-NRC. We have never opposed Hindus and Sikhs residing in Pakistan and Afghanistan, so they are welcome to come here. They can go through a process to become citizens of India with a long-term visa. Targets include Muslims, Dalits, and the underprivileged. We also had a resolution approved in the assembly during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government stating that while the government will conduct a census, NRC-NPR will not be permitted here “explained the speaker.
“AIMIM has always been against CAA and will continue to oppose it,” Owaisi said
