In a park in the Purba Medinipur district on Wednesday, a 35-year-old man was seen dancing with his wife’s head after he was accused of killing her, according to police. They added that the man in question, Gautam Guchhait, is a resident of Patashpur’s Chistipur village in the Purba Medinipur district. It should be noted that in 2021, Guchhait leapt into a lion’s enclosure inside Alipore Zoo in Kolkata.
Residents of Chistipur reported to police that they saw Guchhait sitting on a park bench and dancing with his head severed on Wednesday morning. He spent nearly half an hour sitting on the bench. The police were notified by the locals, who were too terrified to capture him. “We hurried over and took him into custody,” the police said.
The man was reportedly thought to be mentally ill as well. According to the police, his wife Fulrani’s (27) dead body was sent for a post-mortem investigation.
Following the incident, Guchhait was taken into custody, according to Purba Medinipur Superintendent of Police Soumyadwip Bhattacharya. “Both the body and the severed head were sent for postmortem analysis. Only after a thorough investigation will we be able to determine the reason behind the murder. We believe that a family dispute may have been the catalyst for the murder, at least initially,” says the SP.
Entered the lion’s enclosure in the Alipore Zoo in 2021
Guchhait was hurt on March 18, 2021, when he leapt into a lion’s enclosure at the Alipore Zoo, injuring his right leg, shoulders, and waist.
Witnesses claimed that Guchait purchased a zoo ticket, and then proceeded to explore the area before coming to a stop close to of the lion exhibit. He climbed the perimeter wall and cleared two mesh fences at eleven in the morning. As soon as witnesses raised an alarm, zoo officials saved him from the lion’s attempt to drag him inside its cage.
