Jasprit Bumrah got to the No. 1 spot in ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings, becoming the best fast bowler in the world. While Bumrah got to the top place replacing teammate R. Ashwin sending Ashwin get to No. 3 spot.
After finishing with a match total of 9 for 91 in the second Test match against England in Visakhapatnam, where India settled the series 1-1, where he was also named ‘Player of the Match, Bumrah’s rise is visible. He finished the match as the fastest Indian to reach 150 Test wickets, taking six of those wickets in the opening innings when he claimed his tenth five-for in just his 34th Test.
With just three wickets for India in that same match, Ashwin, who has held the top ranking since March of last year, falls two spots to third in the updated rankings for Test bowlers. Kagiso Rabada, the pace spearhead from South Africa, stays in second place despite missing the Proteas’ Test series in New Zealand.
