Chhattisgarh govt gave cabinet minister status to Dr Salim Raj a BJP leader and Waqf Board head. This news got people talking about a possible cabinet expansion before January 15th. State BJP leaders are meeting to discuss this with important portfolios like finance excise and school education being on the table. They’re debating whether to give these jobs to new ministers or keep the old ones.
Dr Salim Raj been in some hot water before for his speeches in mosques but he’s been working hard with the Waqf Board all over the state. This cabinet talk is also happening around the local elections coming up. Some BJP members think no rush for a new cabinet now saying they will think about it after the elections. Plus new BJP state president is coming around January 10-12 which also has an impact as the old president may become minister.
Local body and Panchayat elections are happening after January 15th. The city elections not same time but they’ll announce them together and rules also apply for both at once. Voting will be done in phases and the whole election will finish around 30 to 35 days.
