CJI Seeks Report After Allahabad Judge’s Anti-Muslim Remarks

CJI asks for new report on Justice Yadav’s comments

The Chief Justice of India wants a new report from the Allahabad High Court Chief Justice about Justice Shekhar Yadav’s remarks against Muslims at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad event. This comes after the Supreme Court Collegium asked Justice Yadav for an explanation which he hasn’t given yet. It looks like the CJI is starting an investigation into possible misbehavior.

The process is following a 1995 Supreme Court rule. Basically, the High Court Chief Justice needs to look into the complaints, confirm if they are true, and then tell the Chief Justice of India everything. This way, the Chief Justice can handle it fairly and without any outside pressure and not make the judiciary look bad.

Back in 1997, the Supreme Court made an internal system for judges who break the ‘Restatement of Values of Judicial Life.’ If the CJI thinks the accusations are real, he can give advice or take action and thats the end of it. This whole thing shows they want to keep the Indian legal system ethical and responsible.
