On January 13th the Delhi High Court looked at a case about some government reports. BJP members of the Delhi government said the government was taking too long to give the Assembly some important papers from the Comptroller and Auditor General or CAG. The judge on the case said he thought the government was being shady because they weren’t being upfront about the reports and how it all works. He really thought they should have given the reports to the Speaker of the Assembly right away.
The judge also talked about how long it was taking the government to get the reports out. He said they seemed like they were stalling on purpose. He explained that the normal thing to do would be to send the reports to the Speaker quickly so the Assembly could talk about them. The judge’s words showed he was definitely worried about the government not acting quickly to make the reports public.
Basically the problem is the Delhi government didn’t give the CAG reports to the Assembly when they should have. The court thought this was a big deal that looked bad for how the government acts honestly. The BJP members brought the case which led to the court noticing and talking about how the government was acting. The court didn’t make the government do anything specific but basically told them to do their job right with those reports.
