Delhi University Argues RTI Not For ‘Curiosity’ In Court Battle

Delhi University Argues RTI Not For Curiosity In C

Delhi University told the Delhi High Court that the Right to Information Act isn’t for just being curious. This happened during a court hearing where DU is fighting an order from the Central Information Commission. The university thinks the RTI law is being used wrong.

The Central Information Commission had told DU to give some information someone asked for through the RTI. But DU says that the information isn’t about making public institutions more open or responsible. They think people shouldn’t be able to get info just because they’re curious.

The court now has to decide if the information asked for is something that should be made public under the RTI law. They need to figure out if it’s for good public reasons or if its just someone trying to get information for personal reasons.
