Hyderabad Unions Protest L&T Chief’s 90-Hour Workweek Call

Hyderabad Unions Protest LT Chiefs 90Hour Workweek

The Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) held a protest at the Larsen & Toubro office in Hyderabad on Friday. They were upset about L&T chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan suggesting employees should work 90 hours a week even on Sundays. These unions believe this idea is bad for workers.

Members of CITU and AIDWA showed up to the L&T office to make their voices heard. They said Subrahmanyan’s idea is unrealistic and unfair to workers. The unions think these comments could lead to more companies asking workers to work too many hours. They want to show that they will stand up for workers rights.

The protestors also talked about similar comments made by Infosys chairman R. Narayana Murthy. They see this as a larger problem of business leaders pushing for longer work hours which they think is harmful. They are showing that different union groups are working together to fight back against what they see as mistreatment.
