India: Muslim Chartered Accountants Number Less Than 10,000 in 2024, Book Reveals

India Muslim Chartered Accountants Number Less Tha

A new book reveals that the number of Muslim Chartered Accountants (CAs) in India remains surprisingly low, even as we approach the end of 2024. The book, titled “Muslims in India 1947-2024 – Fake Narratives versus Ground Realities,” underscores a clear imbalance within the accounting and finance professions. While many accountants work with daily transactions, CAs have expertise in crucial areas like business and financial planning. This lack of Muslim representation among CAs raises concerns about equal opportunities within India’s financial sector.

The book explains that while there are many accountants in India, the number of Muslims who reach the level of Chartered Accountant is far smaller. Consequently, this has resulted in the Muslim community having fewer opportunities to take on leadership and decision-making roles in the financial world. This situation, the book suggests, might not be widely discussed, contributing to a lack of awareness regarding the issue.

Furthermore, the book emphasizes the scarcity of Muslim CAs, stating, “The practicing numbers have not crossed more than four digits at the end of 2024.” This substantial gap in professional representation could have long-lasting implications. In particular, it could affect the Muslim community’s financial participation and leadership positions across India. Therefore, conversations about equality must also include this area, where Muslims remain underrepresented in a critical professional field.
