India Pasmanda Group Urges 6 GDP Spend on Educatio

Pasmanda Muslim Samaj is advocating for increased educational and economic opportunities within India. The organization’s national president, Anis Mansoori, recently communicated directly with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Mansoori’s letter detailed recommendations for the upcoming 2025-26 central budget. The focus is on uplifting Pasmanda Muslims, other minorities, and backward classes through strategic financial investments.

A key point in the letter was India’s current education spending. Currently, the country allocates only 2.9% of its total economic output (GDP) to education. Mansoori argued this is significantly below the global standard of 6%. Therefore, the letter requested an increase in the education budget to at least 6% of the GDP, with a focus on improving educational quality for those in marginalized communities.

To achieve meaningful progress, the letter offered specific proposals. These include scholarships for minority students, skill development programs to improve job prospects, and direct financial assistance. Additionally, Mansoori emphasized investing in infrastructure, such as building more schools and training centers. These would be located in areas with significant Pasmanda Muslim populations, aiming to provide better access to resources.

Mansoori believes education is essential for empowering these communities and integrating them fully into society. In his words, “Education is the most effective tool for social and economic upliftment.” The organization views these investments as critical steps towards creating a more equitable society.

This direct communication with the Finance Minister underscores the importance Pasmanda Muslim Samaj places on these issues. It’s the first time the organization has directly addressed the Finance Minister, indicating their strong desire for change. The budget is scheduled to be released early next year. It remains to be seen how many of the organization’s recommendations will be adopted and implemented.
