Karnataka Deputy CM Denies Power-Sharing Deal, Affirms Chief Minister’s Leadership

Karnataka Deputy CM Denies PowerSharing Deal Affir

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar spoke to reporters in Hubballi. He made it clear that there’s no agreement to share power with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This was said because there were rumors going around from his supporters suggesting that he and Siddaramaiah would switch the Chief Minister position at some point.

These earlier claims had caused confusion about who was really in charge. Shivakumar’s public statement was meant to stop all the talk and show everyone that the party is united. He said that the whole party would be working under Siddaramaiah’s leadership.

By saying there is no power-sharing deal Shivakumar is basically confirming that Siddaramaiah is the only Chief Minister. This move seems designed to create a feeling of unity within the party and show the public that the government is stable with one clear leader. He’s showing the earlier claims from his supporters about rotating Chief Ministers was not true and that everyone supports Siddaramaiah as the main leader.
