Gopan Swami from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala was buried by his family they believed he reached Samadhi a kind of divine death this happened before the police got involved neighbors had concerns about how he died and reported it the district people then said they needed to dig up the body to look into things more.
The family says that Samadhi is part of their Hindu religion and that they have lots of religious writings that support it they believe that Swami’s death was not normal but special and spiritual it was like a divine achievement the digging up of the body is to see what really happened and if any rules were broken.
Right now India doesn’t have specific laws for Samadhi deaths this makes it hard to know what is legal or not the police are trying to see if what the family did was okay with the laws or if there needs to be new rules about death and burial when a person believes they’ve had a divine death.
