Ajay Singh and Roopa Singh were given the death penalty by a special court in Lucknow. They were found guilty of murdering six family members. This included two children. The court said this case was very unusual and extremely rare. The killings happened in the area covered by the Banthra police station. The death sentence won’t happen right away it needs to be approved by the High Court.
The trial went on because the crimes were so awful. All the people who died were related to Ajay and Roopa. This made the case even more disturbing. The court didn’t say why the murders happened but the judge stressed just how terrible and uncommon these crimes were when deciding the punishment.
It also came out that Ajay and Roopa’s son is a minor. His case is now being looked at by a Juvenile Court. This means the legal process is even more complicated and shows that young people are treated differently by the law.
