A government official in India named Pandit Vishnu Rajoria announced a plan to give ₹1 lakh to Brahmin couples who have four kids. Rajoria leads the Parshuram Kalyan Board and he’s also a state minister so he has a bit of power to make this happen. He said he’s worried about changes in society and thinks more Brahmin families should have bigger families to keep old values alive.
Rajoria’s board is pushing this idea trying to get more Brahmin families to have more children by offering money. He said it’s because he thinks there are too many “heretics” out there now and that having more kids in Brahmin families will somehow fix things. It seems like he sees family size as linked to religion or society not being right.
We don’t know a lot of the specifics on how this is going to work. Like how couples will sign up for the money or when this plan is starting. We also have no idea how much money they’re planning to spend. It’s clear the goal is to change society and keep old values going but we don’t know much more about how it’ll all go down.
