Madhya Pradesh Village Families Face Social Boycott for Accepting Prasad from Dalit Man

Madhya Pradesh Village Families Face Social Boycot

In a village called Atrar about twenty families are going through a really tough time. It all started when they accepted a religious offering called prasad from a man named Jagat Ahirwar who is Dalit. This happened at a temple on August 20th. After Jagat gave out the special prasad of Magaj Laddu some people found out that upper-caste folks had taken it.

Now these families say they’re being socially boycotted which means the community is basically ignoring them and not interacting with them. They believe the village sarpanch the local leader is behind all of this. They claim he ordered the boycott because he didn’t like that they took the prasad from a Dalit man. This is making life very difficult for them.

This situation shows there are still problems with caste discrimination in the village. The families have asked the police to help and an investigation is being done. They just want things to go back to normal so they aren’t being treated unfairly because of who they took prasad from.
