Madhya Pradesh Villages Renamed to Reflect Hindu Sentiments, Claims Chief Minister

Madhya Pradesh Villages Renamed to Reflect Hindu S

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, announced that eleven villages in Shajapur district will get new names. He said this change is because local leaders and villagers asked for it. The old names had a connection to the Muslim community, and the new names are meant to better reflect the area. The announcement happened at a public meeting in Kalapipal.

Dr. Yadav gave an example saying one village called Mohammadpur Machhnai has been renamed Mohanpur. He asked why it should keep a Muslim name when there aren’t any Muslim people living there. Another village, Bhavna Hussainpur, is now called Bhavna Ram and the Chief Minister asked similar questions about its old name. The name changes were made at public meetings which showed the government was directly involved.

These changes are said to be what the local people wanted. However this means names with some history and connection to the communities have been removed. The Chief Minister made the announcements and changed the names himself publicly showing how quickly these changes can happen across many villages.
