Maharashtra Ex-IAS Aspirant Gets Court Shield in Quota Fraud Case

The Supreme Court of India said Puja Khedkar won’t be arrested until February 14th. She used to be training to be an IAS officer and she’s accused of cheating on her application for the civil services exam back in 2022. The accusations say she lied to get benefits meant for Other Backward Classes and people with disabilities.

The court also sent official notices to the Delhi government and the UPSC. The UPSC is the group that does the civil services exam. These notices are about Khedkar asking for something called anticipatory bail so she doesn’t get arrested. Basically she’s saying the court should stop her from being arrested before anything else is decided. The next court date for this case is February 14th.

The big problem is that Khedkar is said to have lied on her application to get benefits that aren’t for her. Because of that the court is trying to figure out if she really did that and if she misused these special benefits. The court’s choice to protect her from arrest for now gives them some time to look at all the details before deciding what happens next.
