State Information Commission sends notice to Kashipur SDM over mosque funds
The State Information Commission has given a notice to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kashipur, who was once the receiver for the Qazibagh mosque. They’re saying he could be fined ₹25000 for not giving info on time. This SDM became the receiver because the mosque committee was fighting about how to run things. Even though he gave up the job in 2020 after a court order, the money in the mosque’s account wasn’t given back to them.
Ali Anwar, the committee’s secretary, kept writing letters to the SDM, asking for the money to be returned and details provided about it. He even went to the District Magistrate, who told the SDM to share the info and transfer the funds within 15 days. But the SDM didn’t do anything. So, Ali Anwar took the matter to the State Information Commission in March 2024 after the DM’s order was not followed.
Vipin Chandra, the Information Commissioner, heard the appeal and sent a notice to the SDM. He’s asking why the SDM shouldn’t be fined ₹25000 for not sharing the information. The next hearing about this is on February 14th.
