Prashant Kishor, who started the Jan Suraaj Party, just finished a 14-day fast he was doing. He was fasting because he thought there were problems with a big exam the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) had on December 13. Basically he wanted them to cancel the 70th Combined Competitive exam and was also saying the government was being too controlling. He was in Patna doing this to get attention for young people in Bihar trying to get government jobs.
Even though he’s stopped fasting Kishor says his “Satyagraha” will keep going. He explained he’s still going to work for the people trying to get civil service jobs. He says that the worries about the exam problems haven’t gone away and he will stay involved in making sure government exams are done fairly and openly. The whole situation really shows how worried people are about how these kinds of exams are done by the BPSC.
The main thing Kishor was fasting about, cancelling that BPSC exam, is now being looked at by the Patna High Court. So it’s not just protests now it’s also going through the legal system. This court case is a big deal because it could mean a real investigation into what happened. The court’s decision will decide what happens to that exam.
